We met up with Garrett & Caitlin at Caitlin’s family’s charming country home just west of Salem. Not only was it fun to explore the venue of Garrett & Caitlin’s upcoming wedding, but also to learn a little bit of the history behind this beautiful working farm and the gorgeous area which surrounds it. Our time together began by meandering the grounds, gardens, apple orchard and house which comprise the property. Lastly, we took a short jaunt across a nearby field to a tree, under which the first brick house west of the Mississippi was built. Currently, you’ll only find a pile of rubble that remains. Some of the bricks that were salvaged in the demolition of the building can be found in Caitlin’s family home, which itself dates back to the 17th century.
Garrett & Caitlin – We had so much fun traipsing around your family home and learning about the memories and history made there. Not only did we appreciate learning a bit of local history, but also spending time getting to know the two of you a little better. We look forward to seeing you two again, same place, different time ;)
